MAKE EVERY MILE COUNT
Join us as we race for a cure, one mile at a time.
Miles For Mom Charities was born from a deeply personal journey.
Joe Casamassima and Greg Giemza were college roommates in 1999. About that same time Joe's mom was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) and Greg's mom was diagnosed with Parkinson's.
Inspired in part by his years of participation in the annual MS walk and feeling called to make a bigger impact, in 2007, Joe completed a walk across the United States to raise funding and awareness for MS. Three years later, in 2010, Greg and Joe crossed the country on bicycle, in support of MS and Parkinson's research.
Since then, they've logged countless miles through walks, runs, and rides — turning every mile into a message of hope.

OUR VISION:

- Joe Casamassima, Founder, Miles For Mom Charities

MEET THE FOUNDER:
Joe Casamassima
Since his mother’s diagnosis in 1998, Joe Casamassima has been dedicated to raising awareness and funding for Multiple Sclerosis. His passion for advocacy has taken many forms—walking across the country, cycling coast-to-coast, and participating in countless marathons, half marathons, and 10K/5K races. What began as a personal mission has become a family affair, as Joe, his wife, and their children continue to turn running, walking, and biking into opportunities to support the cause. Based in Northern Virginia, Joe and his family can often be found together at events, sharing their energy, passion, and commitment to ending MS.

MEET THE CO-FOUNDER:
Greg Giemza
Greg Giemza's journey began when his mother was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease in 2000. Since then, Greg and his family have been devoted participants in supporting Parkinson’s research, attending the Unity Walk held each year in New York City’s Central Park. Inspired by Joe’s 2007 cross-country walk, Greg dreamed of undertaking a similar journey by bicycle to raise awareness and support for Parkinson’s. Inviting Joe to join him, the two set out from New Jersey and retraced the original walking route all the way to San Francisco. Today, Greg balances his advocacy with his work as a 4th-grade teacher in Nazareth, Pennsylvania.
